Trimester E-Class Record SY 2026-2027: Free Download for All Grade Levels (Complete Guide)

The school year 2026–2027 marks one of the biggest shifts in Philippine public education in recent memory. Gone is the familiar four-quarter grading calendar. In its place is the Three-Term (Trimester) School Calendar, mandated under DepEd Order No. 9, s. 2026. And with it comes a completely updated tool that every Filipino teacher now needs: the Trimester E-Class Record (ECR).

If you’ve been searching for a reliable, formula-correct, and free to download trimester ECR template — you’ve come to exactly the right place. This comprehensive guide will walk you through everything you need to know: what changed, why it changed, how the new grading system works, and where to grab your free trimester ECR template for your specific grade level and subject.

Let’s dive in.

What Is the Trimester E-Class Record (ECR)?

The Electronic Class Record (ECR) — sometimes spelled “e-class record” — is a digital, Excel-based grading tool used by Filipino teachers to:

  • Systematically record learner scores for Written Works, Performance Tasks, and Summative Tests
  • Automatically compute Percentage Scores, Weighted Scores, Initial Grades, and Term Grades
  • Generate transmuted grades using the official DepEd scale
  • Maintain organized, auditable records for submission to school administration

For SY 2026–2027, the old quarterly ECR is no longer compatible with the new calendar. Using the old quarterly templates may result in incorrect grade calculations and rejection by school administration. Every teacher must now use a trimester-specific ECR updated to reflect the three-term structure and revised grading weights. Depedlibre

Why Did DepEd Shift to the Trimester System?

Understanding the why behind the change helps you use the new ECR more confidently.

A review of the existing four-quarter school calendar revealed limitations, including recurring class disruptions that compressed instructional time and contributed to learning gaps, increased teacher workload, and reduced learning engagement, especially among vulnerable learners.

To address these concerns, DepEd adopted the Three-Term School Calendar to support more continuous learning, provide longer and more flexible instructional periods, and rationalize school activities — thereby promoting high-quality instruction and more manageable teaching workloads.

The SY 2026–2027 school year formally opened on June 8, 2026, and is set to end on April 8, 2027, consisting of 201 class days from the first day of Term 1 to the last day of Term 3.

Understanding the New Grading System (DepEd Order No. 15, s. 2026)

Before you even open an ECR template, you need to understand what goes inside it. The new grading system is governed by DepEd Order No. 015, s. 2026, titled Revised Guidelines on Classroom Assessment, Grading System, and Awards and Recognition for the K to 12 Basic Education Program, which provides the official classroom assessment and grading provisions for the three-term school calendar.

Assessment Component Weights

The weight distribution of assessment components varies by Key Stage and subject type:

For Core Subjects (Grades 4–10):

Component

Weight

Written Works (WW)

20%

Performance Tasks (PT)

50%

Summative Test / Term Exam (ST-TE)

30%

For EPP and MAPEH (Grades 4–6):

Component

Weight

Written Works (WW)

20%

Performance Tasks (PT)

60%

Summative Test (ST)

20%

For Senior High School — Core and Academic Electives:

Component

Weight

Written Works (WW)

20%

Performance Tasks (PT)

50%

Summative Test / Term Exam (ST-TE)

30%

Reminder: The weight percentages are set by DepEd policy and should not be changed by individual teachers or schools. Depedlibre

The New Transmutation Table (SY 2026–2027)

One of the most significant updates in the revised grading system is the adjusted transmutation table.

For SY 2026–2027, the Initial Grade is converted into a whole-number Term Grade using the official adjusted transmutation table. An Initial Grade of 70.00 corresponds to the minimum passing Term Grade of 75.

Here is a simplified version of the transmutation scale:

Initial Grade

Transmuted Term Grade

100

100

95.00 – 99.99

99

90.00 – 94.99

98

85.00 – 89.99

97

80.00 – 84.99

96

75.00 – 79.99

95

70.00

75 (Minimum Passing)

Below 70.00

60 – 74

The order describes this table as a transitional mechanism toward zero-based grading. Beginning SY 2027–2028, a zero-based grading system will be implemented for Key Stages 2 to 4. This means the SY 2026–2027 ECR templates should not be automatically reused for the following school year.

How to Use the Trimester ECR: Step-by-Step

Whether you’re a first-time ECR user or a veteran teacher adjusting to the new format, these steps will get you started quickly.

Step 1: Download the Correct Template

Make sure you’re downloading the SY 2026–2027 trimester version — not the old quarterly ECR. Always ensure you’re downloading the version marked as “Three-Term” or “Trimester.” Depedlibre

Step 2: Enable Macros (If Required)

Some ECR templates use Excel macros for the auto-hide feature and other automations. To enable macros:

  1. Open the file location on your computer
  2. Right-click on the file
  3. Select Properties
  4. Check the Unblock checkbox in the pop-up window
  5. Click OK, then open the file and enable macros when prompted

Step 3: Enter Your Class Information

Fill in your school name, school ID, grade level, section, subject, and school year. Some templates have this information locked to prevent accidental deletion. If you cannot edit these sections, your workbook is correctly protected against formula changes. Depedlibre

Step 4: Encode Your Class List

These templates are fully editable in Microsoft Excel and are designed to be “plug-and-play.” Simply encode your class list and start recording!

Step 5: Input Assessment Scores

Enter scores for Written Works, Performance Tasks, and Summative Tests as you administer them throughout each term. The ECR will automatically compute Percentage Scores, Weighted Scores, and your learners’ Initial Grade.

Step 6: Check the Transmuted Term Grade

Once all scores for a term are entered, the ECR will automatically apply the transmutation table and display the final Term Grade for each learner. Review these carefully before submitting.

Step 7: Repeat for All Three Terms

The same ECR workbook covers all three terms. Simply navigate to the Term 2 and Term 3 sheets when the time comes.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: Can I still use the old quarterly ECR for SY 2026–2027?

A: No. The old quarterly templates are not compatible with the new calendar. Using them may result in incorrect grade calculations and rejection by school administration. Always use the 2026–2027 trimester version. Depedlibre

Q: Can I use Google Sheets instead of Microsoft Excel?

A: Yes, you can, but ensure all formulas are compatible. Excel templates may require adjustment for Google Sheets. For best results, use Microsoft Excel as the template was designed for it. Depedlibre

Q: What if I teach multiple subjects? Do I need separate ECR files?

A: Yes. Most ECR sets provide separate workbooks per learning area. Download the one matching your specific subject assignment.

Q: What if a student transfers mid-term?

A: Document the transfer date. Enter scores only for the time the learner was enrolled. Most schools calculate a prorated grade or final term grade based on available data. Consult your school’s transfer policy. Depedlibre

Q: Are these ECR templates the official DepEd release?

A: These templates were developed by teachers and other personnel who volunteered their time and talent, allowing for the computation of grades consistent with DepEd Order No. 9, s. 2026. They are community-developed tools — not official DepEd releases — but are widely used and formula-checked. Always validate your outputs before submission.

Q: Will this ECR work for SY 2027–2028?

A: No. Beginning SY 2027–2028, a zero-based grading system will be implemented for Key Stages 2 to 4. Under this system, the computed grade will directly become the Term Grade without transmutation. A new ECR will be needed.

Q: Is using an E-Class Record mandatory?

A: DepEd encourages digital record-keeping, and most schools require electronic submission of grades. Using an ECR makes compliance much easier. Depedlibre
