If you’re a Grade 6 teacher, you’ve probably noticed that last year’s weekly summative tests no longer fit. The school year now runs on three terms instead of four quarters. Summative Test 2 has a new place in the grading system.

This page explains how Summative Test 2 in Term 2 works and what it should cover. It also gives you a sample Table of Specifications (TOS) and a sample answer key you can model your own test on.

What Changed: Summative Test 2 Under the Three-Term Calendar

Under DepEd Order No. 009, s. 2026, SY 2026–2027 runs from June 8, 2026 to April 8, 2027. It is divided into three terms. For Term 2:

Term 2 phase	Dates
Instructional block	September 16 – December 4, 2026
End-of-term activities	December 7 – 18, 2026

The grading rules come from DepEd Order No. 015, s. 2026, the revised guidelines on classroom assessment and grading. These are the points that matter for Summative Test 2:

Each learning area gives 2 Summative Tests (ST) and 1 Term Examination (TE) per term.
ST1 is given around the 16th instructional day. ST2 is given around the 32nd instructional day. The Term Examination comes in the final instructional days.
Inside the Examinations component, ST1 is 30%, ST2 is 30% and the Term Exam is 40%.
For English, Filipino, Math, Science, AP and GMRC/Values Education in Grades 4–10, the term grade weights are 20% Written/Oral Works, 50% Performance Tasks and 30% Examinations.
A Summative Test should not exceed half of the Term Examination’s items. The Key Stage 2 Term Exam has 40 items, so a Grade 6 Summative Test has a maximum of 20 items.

In practice, ST2 is worth 30% of the Examinations component. It is not a minor quiz.

Teacher tip: Many popular downloads online are still the old quarterly weekly tests from SY 2025–2026. They don’t follow the 20-item cap or the ST1/ST2/TE structure. Check any file you download against DO 015 before you print it.
