What Is the Grade 6 Term 1 Examination?
GMRC stands for Good Manners and Right Conduct — one of the core learning areas in the MATATAG Curriculum for Grade 6 under the Philippine Department of Education (DepEd). Starting School Year 2026–2027, the four-quarter school calendar has been officially replaced by the Three-Term School Calendar under DepEd Order No. 009, s. 2026. That means instead of four quarterly examinations, teachers and learners now go through three Term Examinations per school year.
The Grade 6 GMRC Term 1 Examination is the written assessment administered at the end of Term 1 (June 15 – September 15, 2026) to measure how well learners have achieved the competencies taught during that period.
Important Note: This is a teacher-made assessment resource designed to support classroom-based evaluation. It is aligned with the competencies found in the official DepEd Grade 6 Budget of Work (BOW) for Term 1. Teachers are encouraged to review the content before use and adapt it to match their specific classroom context and pacing.
Why You Need a Properly Built Term 1 Exam (With TOS)
Many teachers download test files online and use them as-is — but a well-constructed examination is more than just a list of questions. A good Grade 6 GMRC Term Exam needs three things working together:
- The Test Itself — Clear, fair, age-appropriate questions that measure what was actually taught.
- The Table of Specifications (TOS) — A planning document that maps each item to a specific competency, cognitive level (Bloom’s Taxonomy), and point value.
- The Answer Key — Accurate, letter-based answers for fast and consistent checking.
Without the TOS, you can’t justify your test items during inspections, LAC sessions, or when submitting documentation to your school head. Without the Answer Key, checking becomes inconsistent. This complete package gives you all three — saving you hours of preparation time.
Assessment Framework: How the Grade 6 GMRC Term Exam Fits Into Grading
Before you administer the examination, it helps to understand how it contributes to your learners’ term grades. Under DepEd Order No. 015, s. 2026 — the Revised Guidelines on Classroom Assessment, Grading System, and Awards and Recognition for the K to 12 Basic Education Program — here’s how Grade 6 GMRC grades are broken down:
Grade 6 GMRC Grading Components (Term Grade)
Component | Weight |
Written or Oral Works (WOW) | 20% |
Product or Performance Tasks (PPT) | 50% |
Examinations | 30% |
Examinations Breakdown
Assessment | Share of Examinations | Share of Term Grade |
Summative Test 1 (ST1) | 30% | 9% |
Summative Test 2 (ST2) | 30% | 9% |
Term Examination (TE) | 40% | 12% |
This means the Grade 6 GMRC Term 1 Examination contributes 12% of the initial term grade — a significant but balanced portion. It is not the sole measure of learner achievement. Teachers should interpret results alongside formative assessments, class participation, and performance tasks.

Tips for a Smooth Card-Giving Day
Card-giving can be one of the most hectic days of the school year. Here are a few practical tips from experienced Grade 1 teachers:
- Print and review SF9s at least two days before card-giving day. Corrections take time, and printers always seem to run out of ink at the worst moment.
- Prepare a summary sheet of your class’s ratings so you can quickly answer parent questions without flipping through individual forms.
- Have a brief script ready for explaining the new descriptive grading system to parents. Many parents will expect a number, and “Proficient” might confuse them without context.
- Arrange your stack of SF9s alphabetically so you’re not scrambling during the actual event.
- Document the parent/guardian who received each card. This is important for accountability, especially for learners whose parents didn’t show up.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Grade 6
Is this an official DepEd examination?
No. This is a teacher-made assessment resource developed to support classroom-based checking. It is aligned with the competencies from the official DepEd Grade 6 Budget of Work and follows the assessment principles in DepEd Order No. 015, s. 2026 — but it is not an official DepEd-issued examination.
Can I edit the test items?
Yes. The DOCX format allows you to edit, adjust, or reorganize items based on your classroom needs and pacing. We encourage teachers to adapt materials rather than use them blindly.
Is this aligned with the Three-Term school calendar?
Yes. This file is prepared for SY 2026–2027, which follows the Three-Term school calendar under DepEd Order No. 009, s. 2026. Term 1 runs from June 15 to September 15, 2026.
Can I use this for multiple sections?
Absolutely. Because it comes in a ready-to-print format, you can reproduce it for as many sections as you need within your school, consistent with DepEd’s guidelines on fair assessment.
What if some competencies were not taught in my class yet?
That’s exactly why reviewing the TOS before using the test is important. If certain competencies appear in the test but were not yet covered in your class, remove or replace those items before administration. The test should only measure what was taught.
