What Is the ILAW Lesson Plan Format?
ILAW is DepEd’s simplified lesson planning format for SY 2026–2027. It replaces the older Daily Lesson Log (DLL) and Detailed Lesson Plan (DLP) with a leaner, results-focused template. A Division memo from the Schools Division Office of Muntinlupa City, citing DepEd Order 9, s. 2026, announced its adoption for the new school year. deped-muntinlupa
The four parts of ILAW are:
Letter | Part | What it covers |
I | Intentions | The competency, learning objectives and the key ideas of the lesson |
L | Learning Experiences | The flow of the lesson, from priming learners to guided and independent work |
A | Assessment | How you check what learners actually understood |
W | Ways Forward | Remediation, enrichment and follow-up based on learner progress |
The last part matters most in practice. Ways Forward is where teachers plan remediation, enrichment and follow-up instruction based on how learners are doing. A plan that stops at the quiz misses what the format is for.
Grade 2 Term 2 Week 6 at a Glance
Grade 2 teachers plan for five learning areas each week: English, Filipino, GMRC, Makabansa and Mathematics. Here is a quick planner you can copy into your own notes. Fill in the competencies from the official Grade 2 Budget of Work.
Subject | Week 6 competency | Suggested key idea | Quick assessment |
English 2 | [from BOW] | One sentence a learner can say back to you | 3–5 item oral or written check |
Filipino 2 | [from BOW] | Same | Pangkatang gawain or short pagsusulit |
GMRC 2 | [from BOW] | A value tied to home or school routine | Role play or reflection question |
Makabansa 2 | [from BOW] | A concrete community or cultural example | Picture-based or hands-on task |
Mathematics 2 | [from BOW] | One procedure or concept | Quick problem set with manipulatives |
Tip: Always check your plan against the latest Budget of Work. A lesson that is well written but one week off will cause trouble at your next monitoring visit.
