What Is an ILAW Lesson Plan? (A Quick Refresher)

ILAW is DepEd’s simplified lesson planning framework for SY 2026–2027. The name stands for four parts:

  • I – Intentions: what learners should know or do by the end of the lesson
  • L – Learning Experience: the activities, resources, and flow of the lesson
  • A – Assessing Learning: how you check that learners understood
  • W – Ways Forward: reflection, plus remediation, reteaching, or enrichment

DepEd has said a lesson plan is sufficient when the intentions, learning experience, assessment approach, and ways forward are evident and aligned. The guidelines also stop regional offices, division offices, and schools from requiring extra templates or paperwork beyond the new standards. In other words, a clear, aligned plan is enough. You don’t need a 20-page document. thepostthepost

Subject-by-Subject Guide for Week 6

Mathematics: Bivariate Data and Choosing Graphs

This is the week’s newest idea, so give it the most planning time. Bivariate data means two pieces of information recorded for the same person or object. The key rule for learners is that both numbers in a row come from one respondent.

Simple classroom examples:

  • Minutes spent reading and pages finished in the same sitting
  • Days since planting and height of a bean seedling

A four-day flow you can adapt:

Day

Focus

Sample Activity

1

What is paired data?

Learners record two facts about themselves (for example, siblings and hours of sleep) in a labeled table

2

Writing good survey questions

Pairs draft short, clear, respectful questions with consistent units

3

Collecting and organizing

Groups interview classmates using codes instead of names, then check that every row is complete

4

Choosing the graph

Learners decide bar or line for three datasets and explain why

The concept learners usually mix up: a bar graph compares categories (favorite reading materials), while a line graph shows change over ordered time (seeds sprouted each day). Not every table of paired data needs a line graph, so make “Why did you choose this graph?” your standard question.

Privacy tip: use codes or made-up data for practice tables. Learners don’t need to write classmates’ names.

English: Inferring Word Meaning

Four clue types are in play this week:

  • Analogy: Hot is to cold as noisy is to ______.
  • Appositive: The meteorologist, a scientist who studies weather, spoke at our school. The phrase between the commas explains the word.
  • Adverb-forming suffixes: -ly, -ily, -ward, -wise (carefully, happily, homeward, clockwise)
  • Glossary: a quick check when context clues aren’t enough

Classroom idea: a “Word Detective” notebook. Learners write the unknown word, the clue they found, their guess, and whether the glossary confirmed it. It works well as an exit ticket.

Science: Life Cycles, Continued

Learners sequence the stages of a plant’s life cycle, then compare mammals, birds, and plants. A three-column comparison chart (stages, how many offspring, parent care) keeps the comparison organized. If you have a few bean seeds and wet cotton, a short observation corner makes the plant cycle stick.

Filipino: Balita, Opinyon, at Audio na Pasalaysay

Learners read a news text and also listen to a narrated audio. Practice separating ulat (reported facts) from opinyon (what someone thinks), then have them express an opinion politely using appropriate expressions.

Araling Panlipunan: Pag-aangkop sa Kulturang Espanyol

Have learners sort examples into material culture (things you can touch, like structures and food) and non-material culture (beliefs, practices, and values). Then ask them to evaluate the effects. This is the “so what?” step that turns a sorting task into real analysis.

GMRC: Pagiging Mapagpasalamat

Gratitude lessons land best when they become action. Try a Gratitude Jar: learners write one blessing from their family each day, then plan one way to care for or share it.

EPP: FCS and ICT

  • FCS: Week 6 is the planning and start-up stage of a supervised sewing project. Spend time on safety rules and a materials checklist before anyone touches the machine.
  • ICT: Learners finish their “About Me” slide presentation. Remind them to avoid sharing sensitive personal details such as home address or contact numbers.

MAPEH

  • Music & Arts: Continue the banga beat accompaniment and the paper-bead accessory, then work toward the final integrated performance.
  • PE & Health: Practice movement skills in a rhythmic activity. In Health, connect regular physical activity to staying away from medicine or substance misuse.
