Why the MAPEH ECR Had to Be Updated for SY 2026–2027

The Shift from Four Quarters to Three Terms

Effective School Year 2026–2027, DepEd officially replaced the traditional four-quarter grading calendar with a Three-Term (Trimester) system, as mandated by:

DepEd Order No. 9, s. 2026 — “Guidelines on the Implementation of the Three-Term School Calendar in Basic Education”

This change isn’t just cosmetic. It fundamentally transforms how teachers assess learners, compute grades, and manage instructional time throughout the year. The old E-Class Records built around Q1–Q4 are now incompatible with the new system.

The updated MAPEH ECR is specifically redesigned to:

Divide all computations into Term 1, Term 2, and Term 3 (instead of four quarters)
Apply the correct subject-specific component weights for MAPEH
Use the adjusted transmutation table mandated for SY 2026–2027

Automatically compute the Final Grade as the average of all three term grades

Understanding the New Grading System for MAPEH

Assessment Components and Weights

Under the revised grading guidelines (DepEd Order No. 015, s. 2026), MAPEH falls under the category of skill-based subjects, which means it follows a specific weighting formula. Here is a general breakdown of how grades are computed:

An Initial Grade of 70.00 corresponds to the minimum passing Term Grade of 75
This applies consistently across all three terms

This means that even if a learner scores 70% on raw assessments, they receive a transmuted grade of 75 on their report card — aligning with DepEd’s continuing commitment to recognizing learner effort under the new system.
