What Is the Grade 3 Summative Test 1 Term 2?

Under the three-term school calendar implemented by DepEd, the school year is divided into three terms instead of the traditional two-quarter and four-quarter setups. Each term has its own set of summative assessments, and Term 2 typically covers the middle portion of the school year.

Summative Test 1 of Term 2 is the first formal written assessment given after the start of the second term. It measures how well Grade 3 learners have mastered the competencies taught during the first few weeks of Term 2, covering all core learning areas.

“Summative assessments in Grades 1 to 3 should remain manageable and developmentally appropriate, aligned with DepEd Order No. 015, s. 2026.”

How Many Items Are in This Summative Test?

DepEd Order No. 015, s. 2026 does not prescribe a fixed number of items for Grades 1 to 3 summative tests. However, our teacher-made materials follow a 15-item standard per summative test for Grade 2 — a format that is:

  • Manageable for early learners still developing independent test-taking skills
  • Consistent with the time allotted per subject period
  • Proportional to the scope of competencies covered in the first few weeks of Term 2

This is an internal production standard, not an official DepEd mandate. You are free to adjust the number of items based on your division’s or school’s guidelines.
