The Ilaw Lesson Plan Template follows a structured but flexible framework. Here are its key components:

A. Header Information

This section captures the basic details of the lesson: teacher’s name, learning area, grade level, section and time, and the applicable quarter or trimester under the three-term calendar.

B. Learning Competencies and Objectives

Teachers specify the learning competencies drawn from the MATATAG Curriculum Guide, along with session-specific objectives. Unlike the old DLP, the Ilaw template encourages teachers to map learning across multiple sessions — for example, Session 1 on vocabulary, Session 2 on reading comprehension, and Session 3 on writing.

C. Learning Resources

This part lists all materials needed for the lesson — from textbooks and learner’s materials to multimedia resources, metacards, and community-based materials. The Ilaw template emphasizes inclusive and practical resource selection.

D. Learning Experience

The heart of the Ilaw template. This is where the teacher designs the core activity — integrating the 8 Learning Design Principles while ensuring inclusion and differentiated instruction for all learners.

E. Formative Assessment

Teachers are guided to observe and note student progress during the activity in real time, adjusting instruction as needed rather than waiting for a summative evaluation.

F. Extended Learning

This section suggests how the lesson can be reinforced at home or outside the classroom, recognizing that learning does not stop when the bell rings.

G. Notes for Reflection

A professional growth space where teachers record what worked, what did not, and what they will change in the next session — replacing the old “Remarks and Reflection” box with a more purposeful format.

H. Declaration of AI Use

A brand-new addition to any DepEd document. Teachers must declare whether AI was used in developing the lesson plan and, if so, how — in line with DepEd Order No. 3, s. 2026.
