What Is the ILAW Lesson Plan Format?
Before we dive into the download, let’s do a quick recap — because some teachers are still getting used to this format, especially those who spent years with the old DLL and DLP.
ILAW stands for:
- I — Intentions (your learning objectives and success criteria)
- L — Learning Experiences (classroom activities and instructional strategies)
- A — Assessment (how you check for understanding)
- W — Ways Forward (remediation, enrichment, and next steps)
“The ILAW format is not just a template — it’s a philosophy. It reminds us that every classroom moment should be intentional, every activity connected, and every learner accounted for.”
This format replaced both the Detailed Lesson Plan (DLP) and the Daily Lesson Log (DLL) under DepEd Order No. 42, s. 2016, and is now the single prescribed format for SY 2026–2027 under DepEd Order No. 16, s. 2026. Full compliance with the ILAW format became mandatory starting Term 2, but practicing it now during Term 1 puts you well ahead of the curve.
Why Term 1 Week 9 Is a Critical Planning Week for Grade 6
Week 9 of Term 1 (approximately August 10–14, 2026) is not just another week. For Grade 6 learners — who are in their final year of elementary education — this is a pivotal stretch of the school year:
- Summative assessments are approaching. Term 1 wraps up after Week 9 or Week 10 depending on your school’s pacing, which means this week may include performance task preparations, review sessions, or culminating activities.
- Learning competencies are reaching their peak complexity. By Week 9, learners should have moved beyond foundational recall and into application, analysis, and synthesis.
- Teachers’ documentation is under close scrutiny. With supervisors and department heads reviewing compliance with the ILAW format, having a clean, organized lesson plan is more important than ever.
A well-prepared ILAW Lesson Plan for Week 9 doesn’t just help you survive the week — it helps your learners genuinely thrive during one of the most demanding stretches of the term.

Frequently Asked Questions About ILAW Lesson Plans for Grade 6
Is the ILAW format really required for Term 1? Per Section 23 of DepEd Order No. 16, s. 2026, the old DLL/DLP format is still accepted during Term 1. However, full ILAW compliance becomes mandatory starting Term 2. Starting now in Week 9 is excellent practice — and many division offices are already asking for ILAW compliance ahead of schedule.
Do I need to include an AI Declaration in my lesson plan? Yes. Under DepEd Order No. 3, s. 2026, all instructional materials — including lesson plans — must include an AI Declaration stating whether the content was created with or without AI assistance and how it was verified. The templates in this download already include a placeholder for this declaration.
Can I use this for a Detailed Lesson Plan (DLP) instead of a Daily Lesson Log (DLL)? The ILAW format actually unifies both the DLP and DLL into a single template. Whether your school calls it a lesson plan or a daily lesson log, the ILAW file you download here fulfills both requirements.
What if my school is still using the old Quarter system? Some teachers and parents still refer to Term 1 as “1st Quarter.” If your division has fully adopted the three-term calendar under DepEd Order No. 009, s. 2026, then Term 1 Week 9 is what was previously known as late in the 1st Quarter. The ILAW templates here are labeled for the three-term structure.
