Starting School Year 2026–2027, the old four-quarter calendar was officially replaced by a three-term school calendar. It effectively replaces both the Detailed Lesson Plan (DLP) and the Daily Lesson Log (DLL) with a single, simplified template for all grade levels and all subject areas.

ILAW is an acronym that stands for:

Unlike the old DLL which treated each day as a separate standalone log, the ILAW format encourages session-based planning — meaning you map out Session 1, Session 2, Session 3, and Session 4 in one continuous flow. For example: Session 1 on vocabulary building, Session 2 on reading comprehension, Session 3 on writing practice, and Session 4 on output or performance task.

One more thing: Under DepEd Order No. 3, s. 2026, teachers are now required to include an AI Use Declaration in their lesson plan if they used any artificial intelligence tool in preparing it. This is a new mandatory section you won’t find in old DLL templates.

What's New in Grade 1 Under MATATAG?

Grade 1 teachers especially need to pay attention here, because the subject structure for Grade 1 has significantly changed under the MATATAG Curriculum.
