What Are DepEd Learning Activity Sheets (LAS)?
Learning Activity Sheets, or LAS, are structured, self-guided instructional materials developed by the Department of Education (DepEd) in the Philippines. They are designed to help learners study, practice, and assess their understanding of a lesson — with or without direct teacher supervision.
Think of LAS as a student’s personal learning companion. A well-made LAS walks the learner through the lesson step by step: from background information and competencies, all the way to exercises, reflection activities, and an answer key.

LAS and the MATATAG Curriculum: What Teachers Need to Know in SY 2026–2027
One of the most common questions teachers ask right now is: “Are these LAS materials aligned with the new MATATAG Curriculum?”
It’s a fair question — and an important one.
The MATATAG Curriculum (issued under DepEd Order No. 010, s. 2024) is being implemented in phases:
- SY 2024–2025: Kindergarten, Grades 1, 4, and 7
- SY 2025–2026: Grades 2, 5, and 8 (added to previous levels)
- SY 2026–2027: Grades 3, 6, 9, and 10
This means that for SY 2025–2026, grades not yet covered by the MATATAG Curriculum continue to follow the MELCs-based (Most Essential Learning Competencies) curriculum. LAS materials for these grade levels remain valid and usable.
For MATATAG-covered grade levels, DepEd has made available electronic Learning Activity Sheets and Worksheets through the MATATAG Learning Management System (LMS), accessible via regional LMS portals (e.g., r1.lms.deped.gov.ph, r4a-1.lms.deped.gov.ph, etc.) using official DepEd accounts.
